— The National Automobile Museum invites the community to celebrate the official opening of its exciting new Speed Street exhibit with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. The event will be held in partnership with the Reno + Sparks Chamber of Commerce and is open to the public.
Speed Street celebrates the thrill of motorsports and the evolution of high-performance racing. The exhibit features six NASCAR race cars, racing artifacts, all-new interpretive graphics, and immersive displays that tell the story of speed, competition, engineering, and the drivers and teams who have shaped one of America's most popular forms of motorsports.
The exhibit was made possible through the extraordinary generosity of Tom Klauer, whose donation of vehicles and significant financial support helped bring the vision of Speed Street to life. "We are incredibly grateful to Tom Klauer for his generosity and commitment to preserving automotive history," said Phil MacDougall, President of the National Automobile Museum. "His support has allowed us to create an engaging new exhibit that celebrates the excitement of NASCAR racing while expanding the experiences we offer our visitors."
The ribbon-cutting ceremony will feature remarks from Museum leadership, representatives from the Reno + Sparks Chamber of Commerce, and Tom Klauer, followed by the official opening of the exhibit. Guests will have the opportunity to be among the first to experience Speed Street and explore its collection of NASCAR vehicles and racing memorabilia. The National Automobile Museum continues to expand its exhibits to tell the ever-evolving story of the automobile and its impact on innovation, competition, and American culture.
Speed Street provides visitors with an exciting new destination that highlights the technology, teamwork, and passion behind professional racing. The ribbon-cutting ceremony begins promptly at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, at the National Automobile Museum, located at 1 Museum Drive in downtown Reno. A
